Bashkortostan, XVII century. A wealthy widow lives with her three sons, of whom only the eldest is married. However, a tragedy happens to him: he dies in the war. Now, according to the customs of their old family, the middle son must marry the wife of his elder brother, and his own bride must be given to the younger. But the middle son and his girlfriend do not want to put up with this state of affairs. Will they be able to defend their love?
