Investigator Kartashov detains Igor Vorobyov on suspicion of murdering his former father-in-law, Yuri Zakharov. Before his death, Zakharov managed to send Igor a wooden sangaku tablet on which a mathematical problem was written in Japanese. According to Zakharov's message, having solved this problem, Igor will be able to find the real killer. Olga Barkovskaya volunteers to solve a new mystery and clear the name of her former lover. And Zakharova’s daughter and Igor’s ex-wife, Natalya, a temperamental archaeologist and adventurer, helps her in this.
