Olga Barkovskaya helps investigator Kartashova in the case of the kidnapping of lawyer Gennady Sinitsyn, combined with the case of the murder of Gennady's wife Natalya. The criminal sends strange messages composed of sequences of perfect numbers to the kidnapped brother, Judge Semyon Sinitsyn. Each message gives Olga a new clue and brings her closer to catching the criminal, while also revealing terrible secrets from Gennady's past. Kartashova seems to suspect that the kidnapper is helping him find himself. It is evident that he is playing a game with the police, the objective of which only Olga can understand.
