Therese, married to the mayor of a small Lebanese village, is excited for the overnight visit of her daughter's new suitor and his parents. As she frantically prepares her house for the guests, she holds a one-sided conversation with framed photos of her deceased brother, who was killed 20 years ago by a Syrian bomb. By the time the doorbell rings, everything is perfect -- until Therese discovers that her soon-to-be in-laws are Syrian.
