10,000 marks - that is how much it would cost Erika Kornfeld to undergo breast reconstruction after a long-ago cancer operation. However, the 65-year-old pensioner does not have this money and neither the lady from the health insurance company nor her relatives show much understanding for her desire to be a "whole woman" again. Erika's best friends Dorle and Ilse are quite different. They are determined to help her financially. With all sorts of clever tricks and a good portion of chutzpah, the bon Vivian's had always managed to treat themselves to something despite a small bankroll. Now the senior citizens are doing small jobs to finance Erika's operation: They rent out their old Ford Taunus as advertising space, sell crocheted doilies or advertise incontinence panties. But all imagination is in vain, you don't get the money until the planned surgery date
