In our latitudes, the wind causes the change between high and low pressure areas. However, climate change is altering existing wind conditions all over the world. Changed wind systems make extreme weather such as droughts or heavy rain more and more likely. Researchers are looking for the cause in the Arctic, where temperatures are rising faster than in the rest of the world.
