The Ministry for State Security of the GDR employed up to 90,000 full-time staff and more than 180,000 unofficial collaborators. The documentary film illustrates the omnipresence of the State Security – from the Ministry in Berlin, through district administrations, county offices, remand centres, bunkers and bugging devices, right through to the GDR’s secret execution site.
