Opis oryginalny: portugalski

Inaugurated by Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa in 2017, Ecomare is a Laboratory for the Innovation and Sustainability of Marine Biological Resources at the University of Aveiro. A research center dedicated to marine science and, at the same time, a research and rehabilitation center for marine animals. In its five years of existence, 1793 animals have entered the Ecomare, from birds, turtles and marine mammals. 49% were successfully treated and returned to the wild. And since it started its activity, more than thirty research projects have been developed at Ecomare, involving 70 national and international researchers. It is the joint effort of these researchers that the immense blue sea, which constitutes 97% of the Portuguese territory, is being explored and protected, with the indispensable help of Science. Leaving a cleaner ocean full of Biodiversity to the next generations must be a national goal. This is also the mission of Ecomare and its researchers.
