Inspector Bruno van Leeuwen is shocked: in Amsterdam's Vondelpark lies a dead boy whose brain has been removed. A ritual murder? While van Leeuwen is hoping for help from the Creutzfeld-Jakob researcher Josef Pieters, things get personal: his wife Simone, barely 50 and suffering from Alzheimer's, had an affair in the past.
