Four inhabitants of the countryside of Minas Gerais share their experiences with the discomfort - for some, the illness - known as “espinhela caída.” According to popular culture, it affects everyone who experiences traumatic situations. After a scare, a bone located at the height of the sternum curves inward, causing strong pain at the pit of the stomach as well as nightmares.
