June 5, 2016. Civil unions are introduced in Italy. A law that has been awaited for thirty years which has allowed homosexual couples to institutionalize their love. At the same time, it has awakened homophobic sentiments in the country which, driven by ultra-Catholic associations, have contributed to cutting the possibility of adoption and the obligation of loyalty for partners from the law.
