Marie loves Jean with whom she is expecting a child. Jean, a sailor, must get on board quickly. Marie leaves for Paris with her baby and meets Pierre who falls in love with her and marries her. The war and its chances make that Jean and Pierre become friends and one fine day, they both present themselves in front of Marie. Learning the truth, Jean walks away.
