Vachette is employed in a sumptuous library without visitors, founded by a wealthy American. There he listens to the stories of his comrade Courjeau, a true Don Juan. On vacation, he meets the American, car breakdown, accompanied by a lovely woman: Madeleine. Moved, Vachette hastens, leads her to the restaurant, then returns to Paris, transformed.
