To reconnect with his father, who works as a doctor in Israel after his economic exile in 2001, Ivo Aichenbaum agrees to take a free cultural tourism trip with a group of young Jews. His portable camera records this experience for a thoughtful travel journal. "The automatic part" combines the estrangement of a son who is reunited with his father, with a tour designed to generate cohesion within the Jewish community.
