Djamel and his deaf-mute companion Karim, both originally from the Maghreb, live among the materials they collect in their suburbs. A great affection and a long bond which they understand instantly not only thanks to the sign language they both know, but also by looking at each other. One evening Djamel helps Claude, a young student victim of rape, and falls in love with her.
