"Girls of the Night" (1961) is a Japanese drama directed by Kinuyo Tanaka. The film follows Kuniko, a young woman recently released from a reformatory after working as a prostitute. Determined to build a new life, she struggles to reintegrate into society amidst widespread prejudice and limited opportunities. Despite her efforts to stay on the right path, societal rejection and personal betrayal threaten to pull her back into the life she left behind.
