In the sixties, in Piadena, in the province of Cremona, Giuseppe Morandi photographed and filmed the last rites of the so-called paisan, laborers and agricultural workers of the Lower Po Valley. Together with Gianfranco Micio Azzali, a bergamino, that is a worker in the breeding of dairy cows, in the same period he founded the League of Culture of Piadena, with the aim of collecting testimonies and preserving the memory of this community of workers. Thanks to this heritage and the contribution of the Mutual Aid Society SOMS 1908 of Torre De 'Picenardi, together with the Mantuan Association eQual, the stories of the Paisan come back to life in the places that once saw them as protagonists and as an example, today, of affirmation of one's own class identity and cultural resistance.
