The director's approach is a critical reflection - emotional and fervent, often scathing - in the place of the most crystalline credulities and absolute beliefs. Pilgrim processions give way to artistic fanatics and candle sellers; water spills out in all its forms, like the string of rosary beads that are sold on the stands of the stores; the sick, patiently waiting for the miracle, alternate with donations to the Blessed Virgin, crutches suspended by hundreds of people inside the sacred grotto, thousands of letters trapped in metal grids that are offered to view and the incredible vision of a floor strewn with leather corsets and wooden legs.
