A detailed look at the life of Gerda Lerner. The feminist historian, author and social reformer emigrated to the USA before the Nazis, was involved in the civil rights movement early on, wrote the study “Black Women in White America” in 1972 and “The Emergence of Patriarchy” in 1986, thus establishing women's historiography. The film explores the question: How can knowledge of our own history inspire us to shape a better future?
