Max Zettl is a very ambitious man and would do anything to get his career off the ground. Fortune favours him and, through a series of coincidences, he rises from chauffeur to editor-in-chief of a gossip magazine within a very short space of time. Together with the photo reporter Herbie Fried, he sneaks through Berlin's scene in search of the dirtiest celebrity stories. But then he comes across a story that has nothing at all to do with his usual line of work, which revolves around varicose veins and alleged celebrity pregnancies: He uncovers a huge political scandal.
