Zio Riz is the name of the Canadian canoe on which a man descends the waters of the Volturno river, starting from the source of Rocchetta al Volturno, an unspoiled naturalistic paradise. This ideal Charon slowly takes us from the natural harmony of that protected oasis further down the river, to the mouth in the city of Castel Volturno, a real metropolitan hell. The rhythm of the seasons is suggested by the rain, by the melting snow, by the continuous flow of water until the soil dries up, lashed by the midday sun. Along the way, life unfolds in its daily gait, from the sounds of animals and the sounds of insects to the noise of man's work, from the repetitive one of agricultural machinery and means of transport to the increasingly chaotic sounds of the urban environment.
